    Great news!

I was supposed to go pick Naima up today so that she could stay with us for a few days through the holidays.  I logged on this morning and she has been adopted.  It looks like she is going to be someone's Christmas present this year.  Her getting adopted is also a nice Christmas gift for me.  We would have liked to have her as our guest but a permanent home is so much better.

    Updates on Scout and Naima

Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 02:01 PM EST [General]

For those of you who read my previous blogs about Scout and Naima, I just wanted to tell you the good news and the bad news.  Scout was adopted last weekend and has finally found a loving home.  Naima is still at the shelter but I am hoping that this week (one of the biggest adoption weeks for the shelter) she will find a loving home as well.  As of today she is still there though.  For those of you who pray, please say a prayer for her and for those of you don't, please wish real hard for her.  Thanks

    Another great dog....

I know that this sometimes makes people sad but I think that the more these animals are out there for people to see, the better their chances are of being adopted.  I will admit that I fall in love with almost every one of the dogs in the shelter, but there are certain ones that really get to me.  Scout is one of the most well mannored dogs that I have seen in a shelter.  He rarely ever barks, he doesn't jump and he will just sit with you and take in any attention you can give him.  He was housetrained when he lived with his family, but has been in the shelter for three months so he has probably lost a lot of that.  With that said, he would probably be very easy to re-train.  Here is a photo and a link for his adoption information.  It's not a great picture, but he really is a beautiful dog.  He only has until January 11, 2008 to be adopted or he will be euthanized so, if you are in the Jacksonville, Florida area stop by Animal Care and Control and take him out for a few minutes.  I guarantee you'll fall in love with him just like I did.

    Look at this sweet dog....

Take a look at this link.  Every time that I go over to the Jacksonville Humane Society to walk to dogs I spend a little extra time with this special girl.  The picture does not do her justice.  She is just as sweet as can be and I would love to see her end up in a loving home.  I would bring her home myself if I could.

Mugsy is the first dog I've had, and I adopted him from the Toronto Humane Society over four years ago. I've heard such horror stories about pet stores getting their dogs from puppy mills that I would never buy one from there. There are so many gr
